Staying fit as a stay-at-home mom isn’t easy. Often, plans uproot at the last moment, and you have to go with the flow. That said, you can fit in exercise if you utilize some of these creative suggestions.
Fitting Activities into Your Day
If you do not have an hour to devote to your workout, why not do some short activities instead that can still help you stay fit? For example, run up the stairs rather than walking them. Or, do squats while you’re making dinner. When the baby is napping, you might even do lunges in the backyard while having the baby monitor hooked to your pants.
Include the Children
Rather than trying to find time to be active without the kids distracting you from it, a better plan is to involve the youngsters in the fitness regime. Whether they are babies or older teens, you all can have a lot of fun while simultaneously getting a good workout. What you choose to do depends on your interests; mom and child could be walking, biking, jumping rope or playing the game Twister together.
Get Exercise Videos
Fitness for moms can get easier when you invest in workout videos. There are many kinds to choose from, ranging from yoga and Pilates to kickboxing. They are inexpensive and save you a trip to the gym!
Put on Exercise Clothes in the A.M.
Often, staying fit as a stay-at-home mom is a challenge because there aren’t large amounts of time to devote to exercise. So, put your workout clothes on in the morning and stay in them to help motivate you to get in a short cardio burst during the day. You will not forget about exercising either if you are in your fitness gear all day.
Staying fit as a stay-at-home mom needn’t be impossible when you incorporate some or all of these ideas into your day!
